To promote, develop, ensure equality and diversity in paid employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities in East Renfrewshire.
To promote, help establish and develop a supported employment service for all people with learning difficulties, to include:-
benefits advice
an employment plan
an accurate and up to date C.V.
jobfinding support
help to talk to employers
help with interview skills
help at interviews (if required)
support on/off the job
a career for life
To work in partnership with and support other groups public/private sector organisations who have, or are working towards the above objectives
To campaign and raise the awareness of the added value people with learning disabilities can bring to organisations, employers and their staff and promote the business benefit for organisations and employers who employ people with alearning disability.
To advance educational opportunities for people with learning disabilities for the public benefit of residents of East Renfrewshire.
Any other purpose that may be reasonably regarded as relevant to any of the preceding purposes.
GMAC is working in partnership with VIAS (Values Into Action Scotland) and SCLD (Scottish Consortium for Learning Difficulties) to actively encourage employers to consider employment of people with learning disabilities and help make a difference to people’s lives and to their company.
